Taiwan - Week of May 17, 2026
Hello from Kaohsiung! Welcome all! I'm grateful you've have joined me in my latest week of adventures in Taiwan! How was your past week? What new 'friends' have you met? How many people did you greet with a warm smile in the past week? Asking you these questions reminds me of a hotel customer service standard I once read about. The reception staff were asked to remember the eye color of the guests they greeted at the reception desk. The sure way to making eye contact (truly being welcomed??) when greeting a guest. Sun Moon Lake's comfortable weather was left behind for the hot humid weather (mid 30C's/mid 90F's) in Kaohsiung, Taiwan's 2nd largest city located on the southwest coast. I reverted to carrying a spare shirt as I knew I'd need to change my shirt given the amount I perspire in hot weather.
