Canada (Ontario) - Week of November 2, 2025

Hiya! Great to see you back! Thank you for taking your time to join in my continuing adventure in 2025! I hope your past week had moments where you had a chance to be grateful. Do know the week ahead is filled with promise!

I'm set for my morning coffee in
Barbados! Thank you Janet! 🤗
A early highlight this week meeting my very good friend, mentor, editor and former client, Janet Wortsman, for coffee and tiramisu (vegan) at Stefano's on Sunday afternoon. We always have the best conversations. When I mentioned I had just purchased a coffee grinder and French Press for my upcoming journey to Barbados, Janet volunteered she had both items she could give me. She also mentioned the deal I could get on good quality coffee beans at Walmart.

I made arrangements to pick up the grinder and press from Janet on Monday as I was returning from my road trip to Carnarvon. We found a parking lot that was mutually convenient to make the exchange. I returned my purchases that evening and bought my bag of coffee beans!

An end of the week highlight was meeting with my very good friend Jes at the FSG Temple in Mississauga for lunch - his treat. Jes is another amazing individual who one is assured to have an engaging and enlightening conversation with. I had the blessing of meeting Jes and his wife Julie on one of my sunrise walks in Port Credit. We share a common view of life in many respects. Jes is a volunteer at the temple responsible for teaching classes (now being transitioned to additional teachers), conducting temple tours on Saturday afternoon and has been involved with translating material on global projects.

Did I mention how disagreeable cold weather is? There are so many places in the world where layers means only a t-shirt and shorts. I'll be in one of those places, Barbados, very soon!

May the universe bring endless blessings and moments of magic 🦄  to you and your loved ones in the week ahead. 🙏

Travel Maps

My weekly travels included a return trip to Carnarvon and driving for a few hours on Thursday to visit a few Halton Region conservation areas that I used to frequent several years ago.

Canada (Ontario/Quebec): November 2 to November 8, 2025

Carnarvon Revisited

I'm so happy to share that The Highlander newspaper in Haliburton has confirmed it will be publishing my two articles sometime in December as part of supporting the community during the festive season! I was short on Guild photos so I decided to make a return trip on November 3 when the Guild members were meeting for their weekly sewing session.

Haliburton Highlands Quilt Guild

My lucky day! Sharon, the program co-ordinator, who was at the Monday session is a consummate photographer. She shared a few photos from previous sessions as well as took a few photos while I was visiting. I did stop by the Country Bakery to pick up cookies to share with my friends. The Halloween themed cookies were a big hit along with the oatmeal raisin cookies. I had the blessing of being invited to sit with the group while we all had our lunch. I had the most fascinating convo with a member who had adult children living in Calgary, Alberta.

BTW - I sent a copy of the article to Sharon to share with her fellow Guild members. I also shared a link to my travel blog as someone, during lunch, mentioned about following my travels.

The photos below were shared with Mike, the assistant editor, to include with the article.

I stopped at the bakery before visiting the Guild members to have a chance to speak with Sue about the article being confirmed for publication. I was also interested in her article feedback. She was good with the article along with having one last edit - removing her and Helen's names from the article. I enjoyed a coffee and apple twist before continuing my journey to meet the Guild members.

The photos below were shared with Mike to accompany the published article.

Sunrises

Overcast skies were the order of the day for this week. I did manage a few sunrise photos in spite of the gloomy start to the day. Yes, the sunrise did rise for me every day of the week, the horizon just lacked the colour and interest on a clear day.

Artistic, right?!

Conservation Halton

I escaped the city to visit two favourite conservation areas - Rattlesnake Point and Mountsberg. My attempt to visit Mount Nemo was thwarted by a power line work crew blocking the access road. These are wonderful areas to enjoy hiking year round and seasonal activities like sampling maple syrup during the spring when the maple sap is 'running'. I'm in my happy place when I take the time to visit.

Next Week

I'm off to Quebec, Canada's La Belle Provence, in the week ahead! What originally started as a trip to visit my good friend Samuel in Montreal snowballed into a week long adventure visiting the province's Eastern Townships. I was vaguely aware of the area and its historic signifiance/scenic beauty, so it's time to put on my domestic tourist persona and explore a part of my own country.
